How do I dispose of paint?

Many customers ask why we cannot take paint.

Oil based paint is considered Household Hazardous Waste which requires a special permit for transportation. To dispose of responsibly, contact your local recycling center; they should offer days when you can dispose of/ recycle the paint at their facility.

We can take latex (water based) paint but require it to be dried out before putting in our trucks. Best way to dry out latex paint: Kitty litter works best, sand is a good alternative. Just fill up the can with kitty litter (make sure the paint does not spill out), leave it rest for 48 hours or until dry and then it can be easily and safely disposed.
