Earth Day is almost here!
Earth Day is on Wednesday April 22nd! While many people probably don’t treat Earth Day much different than any other day of the year, it is a holiday that should not be overlooked. After all, this wonderful planet Earth is our home.
Did you know that this year marks the 45th anniversary of this special holiday and that the first Earth Day was initially focused on the United States? Well it has certainly come a long way, as today there are over one billion people in 192 countries participating in Earth Day events. While this is a significant achievement, especially in the face of climate change, we’re still only talking about one day out of the whole year, however the importance of Earth Day is something that we should all be thinking about every day.
What can you do on this earth Day? There a lot of opportunities to contribute and be a part of earth day. Volunteer, do some gardening, think about your personal energy usage and your impact on the environment, donate, do something positive for earth, go to a Earth Day festival or event or maybe you’re feeling ambitious and want to create your own event. The point is, give some thought to the significance of the day and try to make a difference. I will leave you with a quote I shared on Earth Day two years ago.
“It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little. Do what you can.”
